489Sharif — also styled Darbar-e-489 Sharif — is a fictional institution created for entertainment. The estate, the Council, the departments, the committees, the officials, the announcements and the goats are all invented.
No part of this project is affiliated with, endorsed by, or representative of any real Darbar, shrine, religious institution, spiritual lineage, charity, government body or business. No real person is depicted, named or implied.
The project draws on the visual and ceremonial language of South Asian institutional life — titles, hierarchies, hospitality customs, elaborate paperwork — to make fun of bureaucracy and self-importance.
It is not a commentary on, and makes no claim to, any faith, practice or place of worship. No spiritual authority, blessing, intercession or religious standing is offered, implied or conferred by anything on this site.
Nothing here collects, requests, processes or handles money. There is no payment provider, no bank detail, no cryptocurrency and no mechanism by which anybody could pay anything, even by mistake.
Nazarana is denominated in Bakra Points, a fictional unit with no monetary value, no exchange rate and no redemption mechanism. The livestock is imaginary. The receipts are decorative.
The JV programme is a parody of partnership prospectuses. It is not an investment, a security, a collective investment scheme, a franchise, or an offer or invitation of any kind.
No returns are promised or implied. No interest in land, property, livestock or any enterprise is created. No contractual relationship arises from anything you do on this site.
Certificates, honorary titles, membership cards, guest passes and Gaddi appointments generated here are entertainment artefacts. Every one of them carries a visible satire notice.
They confer no office, qualification, authority, membership, entitlement or standing of any kind, and should not be presented anywhere as though they do.
The running joke about hospitality — that the Darbar is reluctant to let a guest leave — is about the Darbar's enthusiasm, never about any restriction on a person's freedom.
No visitor to this site is under any obligation to stay anywhere, pay anything, donate anything, obey any instruction, or do anything at all.
Satire depends on its target being clear. The target here is institutional pomposity and paperwork — never a faith, a community or an individual.
If something on this site reads as though it is aimed elsewhere, that is a failure of the writing rather than an intention, and it should be changed.
